Before there was the Broadway musical Ragtime, there was Tintypes.

Winner of several coveted Obie Awards, Tintypes is a treasure chest of popular tunes from the time when sheet music was king. In this unique play, the five-actor cast portrays a myriad of character types drawn from American society during the age of Ragtime, including historic personalities Teddy Roosevelt, Emma Goldman and Anna Held.

Through song and music, Tintypes evokes the emotions of pride, nostalgia, suffering and optimism felt by Americans at the start of the last century. Stars Lynne Thigpen ("An American Daughter"), Jerry Zaks ("House of Blue Leaves"), Caroline Mignini, Trey Wilson.
