Patti LuPone: The Lady with the Torch CD

LADY WITH THE TORCH contains the music from Patti Lupone's Scott Wittman-directed one-woman show of the same name. Lupone's rich, smoky vocals are perfectly suited to the American songbook, as she takes on such well-worn gems as "The Man I Love" and "Body and Soul." It is a testament to Lupone's talent that she's able to breathe new life into these chestnuts, and Wittman's wonderful arrangements for the 10-piece ensemble add color and texture. This is a fine collection of romantic, moody torch songs that is sure to please fans of the genre.
