MARY POPPINS the Live Australian Cast CD: The Definitive Recording of the Beloved Stage Musical.

Recorded over five performances at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne, the new live cast recording presents a score dramatically polished and refined since it was captured on the best-selling 2005 London cast recording.

Among the changes is the inclusion of a new song, "Playing the Game," written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The song, which is recorded here for the first time, made its debut in the Broadway production and is now in all productions worldwide.

In the liner notes, producers Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher comment, "We knew on opening night that we had something special and we decided then and there to capture the magic with a live cast recording. This recording also gives us the chance to present listeners with a permanent record of the show as it has evolved since the Original London Cast recording from 2005. We have done so much work on the musical score since then, first on Broadway, then on the US tour, and some final tweaks in rehearsal in Australia."

Mary Poppins the Musical opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End in December 2004 to the largest advance in West End history. The show features all of the showstopping numbers from the original film (written by Richard and Robert Sherman) plus outstanding new songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
